Often confused with suede, the nubuck is a type of natural leather with a velvety appearance, very delicate, but which looks exceptional. Due to the special appearance, you need certain care measures, which we will present in the following.

Many people, although they are attracted to nubuck shoes, whether they are men's shoes or women's shoes, avoid it because they feel it is difficult to maintain. Fortunately, if you ignore the myths and listen to the advice of specialists, you will enjoy the most beautiful pairs of shoes, with a minimum of effort and you will keep the nubuck skin in perfect condition for a long time.

Before we actually present you the best cleansing methods, we need to tell you a few things about the nape and about the main differences between it and the turned skin.

Nubuck is a skin very sensitive to moisture, so you must choose carefully the days when you wear shoes made of it, so as not to have unpleasant surprises. And you can also protect this skin if before each wear, you will use a special spray with a protective and waterproof role. This way, you will be able to stay without worries that the skin will not be damaged if it rains lightly.

Shoe cleaning

Even if it is sensitive skin, it does not mean that it should not be cleaned often. On the contrary: if you want to enjoy it as much as possible, you must clean it frequently and get rid of any small traces of dirt, as soon as possible.

Because nubuck is a skin that does not reconcile with moisture at all, to clean it you must use a brush specially created for this type of skin, with soft brushes. It is important to remove dust and dirt and at the end, to align the threads, both for aesthetic reasons, but also for the skin to last as long as possible.

If the shoes get wet, you don't have to think that they can't be saved. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. Thus, put the shoes to dry as soon as you take them off and to speed up the process, put newspapers or papers in the shoes (they will absorb moisture). It is important not to put your shoes dry on the radiator or in the sun, because it will dry excessively and you will destroy the skin.

Only after they are dry can you start the actual cleaning. The first step is to remove the dirt. If they are not excessively dirty, you can use a special brush, but if there are stains for example, it is good to use a special eraser for nubuck. In some cases, using a special solution can be beneficial, as it will not only remove dirt, but will also refresh the color and skin will become supple and soft.

If you do not have at hand neither eraser for nubuck skin, nor special brush, you can use what you have around the house. Specifically, you can use a simple eraser and a soft toothbrush (soft or extra-soft). The normal eraser is not as efficient as a special one, but it will definitely do its job to get rid of most of the dirt.
